Plain answers about your data.
No legalese. If something here isn't clear, email us and we'll fix the wording. The goal is for you to actually know what's going on.
What we collect
- ·What you submit — rent, maintenance, deposit, BHK, floor band, furnishing, and the optional Section B fields if you chose to fill them.
- ·An optional email — if you ticked 'help future renters' so we can ping you when there's a question or your society unlocks.
- ·Basic request logs — IP address and user-agent, kept short-term for abuse and spam defense. Nothing else.
What we don't collect
- ×Exact unit numbers, wing identifiers, or anything that pins a report to a specific flat.
- ×Owner or landlord contact information.
- ×Rent agreement documents on the public site — sent for verification stay private.
- ×Identifying personal information beyond the optional email. No phone, no Aadhaar, no PAN.
- ×Payment information. RentLens doesn't transact, charge, or hold money.
Public aggregates, private records
What's public is the aggregate — the medians and ranges on a society's page. Your individual report is never shown on its own; it only ever appears blended into those numbers.
Any verification document you choose to send stays private and encrypted, and is never published. We keep contributor records only as long as they're useful to a society's aggregate, and request logs (IP, user-agent) only short-term for spam and abuse defense. You can ask us to delete your data at any time — see below.
Cookies and analytics
RentLens sets no analytics or advertising cookies and runs no third-party trackers.
If analytics is ever added it will be privacy-safe and aggregate-only — page-level counts, no per-user tracking, no behavioural profiles.
If you give us an email, we use it to answer a question about your submission, to let you know when your society's page has data (if you asked), and to keep submissions honest — repeated reports from the same address are rate-limited to curb spam. That's the full list.
Contributor email addresses are never shared with third parties, never sold, and never bundled into a marketing list.
Request removal
If you've submitted and want any of it gone, partial or full, send a request through our contact form — pick "Data removal" and include anything that helps us find your submission (rough date, society, the email you used if any). We'll confirm deletion in writing.
You don't need to explain why. "Please remove" is enough.
Updates to this page
If policies change we'll update this page and update the date stamp below. We'll never quietly broaden what we collect. Anything new gets called out in the next site update.
